Workshop Information
Traditional inking materials, brushes, paper, essential drawing tools, plus dedicated workbooks and sketchbooks for sketching, refining ideas, and planning compositions.
Students will learn to use waterproof and archival pens, as well as traditional dip pens, while exploring techniques for creating texture and varying line weight to creating finished work on Bristol board.
Bristol board paper is a go-to choice for comic artists, because it delivers a smooth, durable surface that makes line work and ink stand out with crisp precision. Its heavyweight construction resists warping and bleed-through, so markers, pens, and brushes glide cleanly without soaking through. It takes repeated erasing and reworking well, and reproduces reliably for scanning or printing.
Together with quality inks and paper, dependable drawing tools, and sketchbooks to test panels and character designs, and compositions, to foster experimentation, students will be able to turn ideas into expressive comic art. Students will have all the tools they need to begin their journey as well as workbooks to strengthen their out-of-studio learning.
